Michigan is remembering what real winter feels like. Not just a cold snap or a snowy weekend, but the kind of stretch where the cold settles in and refuses to leave. Freezing Arctic air has dropped straight out of northern Canada, and now that it's here, it will stay parked close enough to keep Michigan locked in a steady supply of bitter air for weeks.

Why This Arctic Cold Is Sticking Around in Michigan

This is not about one brutal day and a quick rebound. It is a pattern, according to MLive. Cold blasts roll in, temperatures stay stuck in the single digits and teens, then another wave follows right behind it. A few afternoons may flirt with freezing, but most will not. Mornings below zero become part of the routine.

Snow comes with it, especially for the usual lake-effect snowbelts, with chances for more widespread snow later. It is the kind of winter you have to plan around, dress for, and mentally prepare to ride out.

Flint Temperatures Drop to Single Digits

This morning, the temperature dropped to -2 degrees in Flint, with wind chills at 22 degrees below zero. A slight warmup is possible this weekend (with temps in the teens), but even more cold air is expected next week.
