
Police: Argument Over Woman Leads to Fatal Stabbing at Michigan Kroger
A dispute over a woman turned deadly inside a Michigan Kroger Store on Tuesday, police say, when one man fatally stabbed another during a confrontation.

The incident unfolded around 3 p.m. Tuesday (Oct. 7) inside the Fort Street Kroger in Southgate while dozens of shoppers were present in the store. Police say a 23-year-old man entered the store and got into an argument with a 33-year-old employee. The fight escalated quickly, ending when the employee allegedly stabbed the younger man twice.

Despite efforts by first responders, the victim later died at a nearby hospital, according to Detroit’s WJBK-TV.
Det. Sgt. Michael Murphy of the Southgate Police Department says the dispute between the men was over a woman.
"I’m not sure how much they knew directly each other. It did stem over another female that brought the two together. They did have some communications between each other leading into the event," Murphy said. "Just a tragic event that could have been avoided. It’s going to wreck some families' lives."
Police tell the TV station that an arraignment for the man could happen as soon as today (Oct. 9).
