If you're looking for a job in Flint, Saginaw, or the surrounding areas, McDonald's is looking for you.

McDonald's kicked off a hiring event this week with a pretty lofty goal. They are hoping to hire more than 10,000 workers here in Michigan. Approximately 1,700 of those jobs will be available in Genesee and Saginaw counties. McDonald's is feeling the worker shortage due to the pandemic the same way that all employers are.

McDonald's is hiring for all levels at their Mid-Michigan restaurants. If you are interested in finding out more about the jobs available, or applying, you can do that here.

This morning we talked about our favorite jobs that we had as a young adult, and just about every other person talked about their job at McDonald's. Working at a fast food place seemed like a right of passage growing up, not to mention it was a lot of fun. What we didn't realize while working there was how many life skills we were actually learning.

Think about the amount of teamwork skills you picked up while working in fast food. The chemistry and friendships you develop while working in that atmosphere set the tone for how you will look at group work as an adult. These skills are more important than they get credit for, and we haven't even gotten to the customer relationship skills you learn.

I firmly believe that if you can deal with an angry fast food customer, you can deal with pretty much anyone.

I have two kids that are a few years away from getting their first jobs, and I will definitely support them working at McDonald's or a similar place.
