Michigan Lottery Ticket Gifted for Birthday Wins $500,000 Prize
A Saginaw County man had a birthday he won’t forget after a Michigan Lottery ticket he was gifted turned out to be worth $500,000.
The lucky winner hit big on a Money Rush instant ticket that a family member gave him. The winning ticket was purchased at the Kroger store on North Main Street in Frankenmuth.
The 66-year-old winner, who wishes to remain anonymous, had this to say about the big win,
My family’s Easter party happened to be on my birthday this year, so at the party, my sister gave me a lottery ticket as a birthday gift. On my way home, I stopped at the store, scratched the barcode, and scanned the ticket. I got a message to file a claim at the Lottery office, so I scratched the ticket when I got home to see what I’d won.
According to Michigan Lottery Connect, the man immediately called his sister to share the big news. He plans to put his winnings toward retirement - and just a guess, maybe he will do something nice for his sister, too.

Do you ever give Michigan Lottery tickets as birthday gifts? I have in the past myself, although none of the tickets I’ve given out have ever hit anywhere near this big. Still, it really is the thought that counts, right?

In this particular case, it was definitely better to be on the receiving end than the giving end. This makes for quite the memorable birthday surprise. Congratulations to this very lucky Michigan winner.
