In recent years, Puddle of Mudd have been making more headlines because of frontman Wes Scantlin’s shenanigans and arrests than for their music, but here's some good news for the group's fans: The band has begun work on a new album.

In a couple of tweets on their Twitter account, the band revealed that they are recording their new disc at Grandmaster Studios. Bands like Foo Fighters, Nine Inch Nails and Weezer have all used the Los Angeles recording studio to lay down different songs and discs. Puddle of Mudd also announced that Cameron Webb is taking on production duties for their upcoming album. Webb has helped bands like Motorhead, Megadeth and Alkaline Trio fine tune their music. Check out the two tweets from the group below, one of which shows Scantlin (liquor bottle in hand) posing with Webb in front of late Beatles legend George Harrison's Bentley.

Scantlin's run-ins with the law started way before this year and include drug possession, speeding and vandalism. The singer kicked off 2015 by being arrested at a Denver airport, after taking a joy ride on a baggage carousel into a restricted area. In April, the singer had an onstage meltdown that involved him smashing his own guitar, microphones and some of the drummer’s kit before walking offstage mid-performance. And just last month, the band were forced to cancel their Flint, Mich., show after the singer missed his plane to the city.

Puddle of Mudd last album, re:(disc)overed, a covers disc, was released back in 2011. In 2014, the group released a standalone single called “Piece of Action” via iTunes. The band has not released a proper studio album since 2009's 'Volume 4: Songs in the Key of Love & Hate.'

Puddle of Mudd have tour dates scheduled through the end of October and next play in Thornville, Ohio, on July 23. Head here to check out their itinerary.
