Rob Zombie Shares First Look Photo of Grandpa, Lily + Herman Munster From ‘The Munsters’ Set
Rob Zombie has done a wonderful job of appeasing fellow fans of The Munsters by showcasing everything from the building and dressing of sets to costuming and make-up to casting news for the upcoming new Munsters film that he's directing. Now, he's taking things a step further and showing you a first-look photo from filming on The Munsters, with a view of a scene with Grandpa, Lily and Herman Munster from his monitor in between takes.
"A view from my monitor. Three very tired Munsters trying to conserve their energy between takes," says Zombie, referencing actors Daniel Roebuck, Sheri Moon Zombie and Jeff Daniel Phillips who have been cast as the three characters.
"It’s been a tough one for this trio. Three hours in makeup - 14 hours of shooting - one hour of clean up. Then a drive back to the hotel, grab a few zzz and straight back on set," Zombie adds, noting the grueling schedule. "It’s definitely the end of a long day here. Outside the stage the [sun] is definitely beginning to rise. Working from sunrise to sunrise. Cheers to these three for always bringing the thunder.
In addition to the trio featured, the film also has Richard Brake as Dr. Henry August Wolfgang and Lost's Jorge Garcia as his hunchback assistant Floop and most recently cast Cassandra Peterson (aka Elvira Mistress of the Dark) as Barbara Carr, the No. 1 real estate agent in all of Mockingbird Heights. The Zombie version of The Munsters has received a PG rating from the Motion Picture Association.
Zombie was announced as the director for The Munsters film in June 2021. In recent months, he's recreated the original house and even built a full neighborhood set while filming. Zombie has also been steadily revealing some of the casting, costumes and makeup effects on social media in the build up to what will eventually be the release of the film.
The rocker made his directorial debut with House of 1000 Corpses in 2003. Since then, he has worked on numerous other horror films, like The Devil's Rejects, The Lords of Salem, 3 From Hell, and a 2007 Halloween remake.
