We are heading into the heart of winter in Michigan, but that doesn't mean you can't have some fun.

The Michigan DNR has a new pilot program aimed at keeping ice fishing access clear in the Upper Peninsula.

If you are looking to get outdoors this weekend, heading to your favorite fishing hole won't cost you a dime this weekend.

If you don't have a fishing license in Michigan this year, don't worry, you are safe this weekend. Michigan residents can fish for free on Saturday and Sunday.

I've never gotten into ice fishing, but I would imagine this brings excitement to the people that do. David Thompson and his daughters were able to film and watch this guy cruise around for about 25 minutes.

I live on a lake and have never seen anything like this. Sure in the Summer time, but never during the winter. I don't ice fish, but I do ice skate and trust me - I am bundled up like an Eskimo, not an Eski-hoe! I am kidding, no judgement here...

While It may not the best way to drill out an ice hole, it just might be the most fun.
