It looks like the government is finally getting their act together on the Flint water crisis, as a $170 million aid package was just approved by the House. Celebration may be premature, but it's not too early to start thinking about who we can trust to handle those funds. Spoiler Alert: The answer is not Flint's Mayor or City Council.
Flint City Councilman Wantwaz Davis is throwing Mayor Karen Weaver under the bus, or, in this case, the garbage truck, over the recent contract dispute that lead to a halt in trash collection. He even went as far as claiming that she is a puppet for former mayor Woodrow Stanley.
In statement Saturday night, Flint Mayor Karen Weaver said there will be no trash collection until further notice due to the city no longer having a waste removal contract.
Flint Mayor Karen Weaver hosted a town hall meeting yesterday at the Metropolitan Baptist church. The Mayor addressed replacement pipes and removing lead from Flint water. Not all questions and concerns were addressed according to some people in attendance. Police Chief Tim Johnson also attended the meeting and discussed crime in Flint.
