DC’s Geoff Johns confirmed that the Dark Knight will appear in the solo The Flash movie, but it probably won’t be Ben Affleck.

The ultimate DCEU team-up is almost here, and we have some expectations. Here’s everything we’re hoping to see in ‘Justice League.’

Given the film’s box office success and surprising - albeit extremely preliminary - Oscar buzz, it’s probably fair to declare 2017 as the year of Wonder Woman. And all this Wonder Woman excitement has fans asking: after we see the character again in this fall’s Justice League, what’s next for the star of the DCEU? Will she jump forward to the modern world in Wonder Woman 2? Will we continue to see her adventures unfold throughout the 1900s? Or will Warner Bros. do something really wacky with her character, like, I dunno, make her the villain of another DCEU movie?

With the recent creative changes behind the scenes of The Batman, Ben Affleck’s solo film probably won’t begin filming until 2018, which leaves a bit of a gap in Warner Bros.’ superhero schedule. Earlier this week, the studio pushed Aquaman back two months, pitting it against Sony’s animated Spider-Man movie in December 2018 — and with nothing else on the docket for the rest of the year, that leaves a sizable gap on the DC schedule.

The DCEU has had its work cut out for it from the start. It had a little bit better footing than Marvel because everyone knows who Batman and Superman and Wonder Woman are, but it still seems like Warner Bros. is trying to fit too much information into every movie so that it can prepare for the next on in the series. The most notorious example of this was the commercial smack-dab in the middle of Batman v. Superman that teased the solo movies and Justice League team-up for a bunch of new characters you never see onscreen again. Apparently, in order to tie the next bunch of films in the series together, we might be seeing flashbacks and flash-forwards in the upcoming solo adventures.

Over the weekend, USA Today dropped their 2017 movie preview featuring new photos of some of the year’s most anticipated movies. One of those was, of course, DC’s Justice League. We’ve seen some behind-the-scenes footage and some new looks at Wonder Woman, Batman, and The Flash, but now the whole gang has arrived.

The CW has enough superheroes for one lifetime, between Supergirl, The Flash, Arrow and Legends of Tomorrow, to say nothing of DC outliers like FOX’s Gotham. Well, get ready for another superhero (or villain?) to join the ranks in 2017, as those in the know say there’s another DC TV series on the way

If ever The Flash found reason to invoke Back to the Future, 2017 would be it. Not long ago, we published a list of suggestions for how Warner Bros. could fix some of the issues with the DC Extended Universe. To date, the studio has delivered three superhero blockbusters — all of which were massively budgeted and hugely successful at the box office, sure, but they could have performed even better had they been genuinely good films. Although recent comments from WB execs and Ben Affleck imply that the studio has learned a few lessons from its mistakes, new comments from a top DC movies producer prove otherwise.

The DC cinematic universe at this point is its own Gordian Knot of rumors and threads of rumors that are rarely legit and usually peter out and go nowhere. On the other hand, Rick Famuyiwa just confirmed one of these rumors on his Twitter, where he posted a photo yesterday of the latest draft of The Flash script. In the photo, you can see the feet of two Funko Pop figures: the Flash, naturally, as well as those of Cyborg.

These days, it'd take at least two years to watch only only one season's worth of #PeakTV, a quarter of which won't even be around a second year. Critics of the DC Cinematic Universe have often pointed out that Warner Bros. has tried to crawl before they can walk, choosing to stuff their movies with as many recognizable villains and superheroes as possible instead of slowly ramping up their exposure for movie fans. And while I am certainly not as pessimistic about the future of the DCU as others, I will agree that Warner Bros. too often seems to include three or more characters when one or two would suffice.
