You know the expression:  People who live in glass houses should not throw stones.

Although that proverb has always conjured up images of what a glass house may look like in my mind, they've never really looked like this home in Northern Michigan. This home, which sits on over three acres in Suttons Bay features windows from top to bottom. Suttons Bay is about 15 miles north of Traverse City, in the picturesque northwest corner of Michigan's Lower Peninsula.

Imagine the view!

Imagine the heating and cooling bills!

Imagine cleaning all those windows!

Impeccable Design

The home was designed by Roger Hummel, who is considered a Northern Michigan legend. The home features panoramic views of Suttons Bay, the Village, Stony Point, West Bay, Old Mission Peninsula, and East Bay, according to the listing.

It features finely crafted built-in shelving as well as built-in bunk beds in the home's 'bunk room.'

The listing goes on to say that the home is "Located in a perfect location to take advantage of all that Leelanau County has to offer." It's within walking distance of local beaches, shopping, restaurants, and breweries.

Beds, Baths, and Questions?

The home - built in 1989 - features three bedrooms and two bathrooms. And you'll notice in the pictures that there are baseboard heating registers, meaning the home is heated with hot water. That seems like an antiquated way of heating a home requires the addition of a ductless air-conditioning system.

And as much as I appreciate the craftsmanship and the floor-to-ceiling views, I'm not in love with the design of the bathrooms. The open-counter concept feels a bit industrial and leads me to believe there might not be adequate storage space.

But that view!

Take a look at the pictures below, because it's always nice to dream.

Don't Throw Stones at This Glass House in Northern Michigan

This gorgeous house in Suttons Bay features glass from top to bottom. The view would be incredible, year-round. The heating and cooling bills, however, would be something else.
