The Batman vs. Superman follow-up, Justice League, quietly began filming in London last week, and while there wasn’t a big splashy announcement, we do have a new and interesting bit of casting. In addition to all the many known cast members both returning — Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot, Amy Adams — and new — J.K. Simmons, Jason Momoa, Ezra Miller — there’s one more good guy joining the film: Willem Dafoe.

The Hollywood Reporter broke the news that Dafoe has joined the Justice League cast in a mysterious role. Warner Bros. would not confirm who he’s playing in the film, only that he’s one of the good guys. This can only mean one thing: Willem Dafoe is the new Green Lantern!

Truth be told, we have literally no idea who he could be playing in the film. It’s entirely possible he’s playing a new character, like Holly Hunter’s Batman vs. Superman role. If we had to guess he’s like the Coulson of the DC Cinematic Universe, working for A.R.G.U.S. (Armed Revolutionaries Governing Under Secrecy). THR notes that Dafoe will appear in both parts of the Justice League movie.

After J.K. Simmons and Dafoe, the DC Cinematic Universe has now cast two stars from Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man movie in Justice League. All they need know is James Franco is Darkseid and we’re in business (*quickly runs to Photoshop*).

Justice League, Part One opens in theaters on Nov. 17, 2017.
