Aside from a few summer tour dates, Avenged Sevenfold took a well-deserved breather for much of 2012. After all, the band had a pretty rough couple of years following the 2009 death of drummer Jimmy "The Rev" Sullivan. In addition to dealing with the unbearable loss, the band took on a pretty hefty workload by releasing and touring extensively behind 'Nightmare.'

Now that they have sat out much of 2012 (as they had previously announced their intention to do) A7X is jumping back into the fray with 'Carry On.' This is their first new release since 2011's 'Not Ready to Die,' a song that was recorded in April of 2011 for the 'Call of Duty: Black Ops' expansion 'Call of the Dead.' Their newest recording is to be featured on that game's sequel 'Call of Duty: Black Ops II.'

Avenged Sevenfold - 'Carry On'

As for other new Avenged happenings, guitarist Synyster Gates recently told Rock of Jericho that they were taking the summer off for the most part, but are all writing material for a new album separately. He also expressed that it wouldn't be too much longer before they "put [their] nose to the grind stone and get back in the studio."
