Father's Day is coming up this weekend, and the best gift you can give your old man is keeping him around.  Hurley Men's Fest is raising awareness for men's health issues and they are bringing in one of Flint's finest to help with the cause.  Mark Ingram Jr, Flint native, Heisman Trophy winner, and NFL running back with the New Orleans Saints will attend the first Men's Fest on Saturday.

The event happens at Atwood Stadium from 10 am to 3pm and is free to the public.  Ingram will be speaking at around 2 and will be available before and after meeting fans, signing autographs and taking pictures.  Ingram is no stranger to Atwood and is excited to be coming home,

I just want to show that anybody can make it as long as you put your mind to anything you want to do. Don’t let anybody tell you what you can’t do. You have to work hard to achieve your goals no matter where you’re from, whether you’re from Flint or anywhere. You can make your goals happen, so with me coming back home hopefully it encourages the kids to be successful.

Along with Ingram's appearance, Men's Fest aims on raising awareness on men's health and getting men to start taking care of themselves.  Coordinator of the event, Dwayne Parker stressed the importance of men being proactive about their health. Parker was quoted,

It’s a fact that men take better care of their cars, their motorcycles, and their hunting and fishing equipment better than they do themselves.

There will be family activities such obstacle courses, a tug of war station, and a carnival, plus the event will feature information on men's health care issues and resources available.
