Earlier today, Mayor Weaver announced that she would like to keep Flint connected the Detroit water system. This is the opposite of last year's plan to switch to the Lake Huron pipeline that was under construction.

Since the water conditions have improved, millions of dollars in state contributions have stopped. Making this decision is part of a condition do receive $100 million dollars to address the problem.

The mayor does not want to subject residents to another water switch and stated “this protects residents from any fears or anxieties with another change.”

Another possibility is switching to the KWA pipeline, however, the Flint water plant is not ready to handle that load.
