By now you must have heard about the 10 song project that is forthcoming from the unlikely pairing of Metallica and classic rocker Lou Reed. While there is very little info on when the project will surface, the fact that they have just launched a website for the project gives us hope we will see it in 2011.

Thrash metal vets Metallica recently revealed that they had finished recording 10 songs with Lou Reed, who they had previously performed with at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 25th anniversary concert. What little we do know about the project is that it drew some inspiration from the the musical 'Lulu'. If you're worried Metallica has gone 'Broadway', Reed assured the folks at Vulture that is not the case:

"I don’t think Metallica wants to be a band on Broadway! [Chuckles.] They’re metalheads. They’re not going to do that. But the version of the Lulu music I did with Metallica is awe-inspiring. It’s maybe the best thing done by anyone, ever. It could create another planetary system. I’m not joking, and I’m not being egotistical."

Reed also mentioned that at least some of the Metallica project would most likely be out in November. Although there is nothing there yet but a picture of the group, more details will (probably) be available at the newly launched LouReedMetallica.com in the coming months.
