I've have never been a religious person, that is until if found the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster. I discovered the Church of the FSM while doing a story on an Austrian guy said he was a Pastafarian. After researching this religion I had to start spreading the word.

After spending hours on the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster's website, I found some very interesting facts about this religion known as Pastafarian. The Church of the FSM believe that pirates were the first Pastafarians and that a Flying Spaghetti Monster created the earth. Pastafarians say that the Flying Spaghetti Monster created the earth, but for reasons unknown made it appear that the universe is billions of years old (instead of thousands) and that life evolved into its current state (rather than created in its current form).

Pastafarians may be difficult to spot in public, here is a list of what to look for:

  • We believe pirates, the original Pastafarians, were peaceful explorers and it was due to Christian misinformation that they have an image of outcast criminals today
  • We are fond of beer
  • Every Friday is a Religious Holiday
  • We do not take ourselves too seriously
  • We embrace contradictions (though in that we are hardly unique)

According to the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster, the religion has been around in secrecy for hundreds of years, it wasn't until an open letter to the Kansas School was published in May 2005. They go on to say:

"With millions, if not thousands, of devout worshippers, the Church of the FSM is widely considered a legitimate religion, even by its opponents – mostly fundamentalist Christians, who have accepted that our God has larger balls than theirs."

This religion is more about the ideas and thoughts that all religions "sink" into their followers heads. I am not at bashing any religion, you believe what you want to believe and let everyone else do the same. After reading almost all I could on this website, I pretty much laughed at everything I was reading, not in "vain" more like that's true, so wrong, but funny nonetheless.

Take some time to surf around the site.
