Last week Hunters were fired up to get out and kick off firearm season in Michigan. Unfortunately, it didn't start out as planned for a few hunters in the state as they were shot and killed while hunting.

According to ABC12, a 29-year-old Howell man was found in a wooded area late Friday night, a 67-year-old Lansing man is believed to have been shot and killed while also hunting and on opening day a Midland County man lost his life while hunting in Antrim County.

It's unclear from the video below, whether or not the shooters were present when police arrived on the scene. It seems with at least 2 of the cases, the men were simply found dead in the woods at least that's how it sounds. All three cases are obviously still under investigation.

Michigan is one of the top five states nationally in both number of deer hunters and overall deer taken each year.

Our hearts go out to the families of the victims, just horrible and right before the holidays too.
