4 Year-Old Flint Girl Shoots Finger Off, Parents Charged

Earlier this week a 4-year-old girl from Flint mistook a handgun that was being stored in a closet as a toy. She grabbed the gun and ended up shooting her left index finger.

According to ABC 12, the girl had her finger amputated at Hurley Medical Center because of the severity of the wound.

What really pisses me off about this story is the fact her parents kept several handguns and rifles in the closet with some of them loaded. They also kept some of their children's toys in the same freakin' closet. They didn't have a gun safe at all. Are you kidding me?! They kept loaded guns in the same closet with the kids' toys, this just blows my mind.

These parents absolutely suck and are now facing charges including second-degree child abuse, obstruction of justice and lying to a peace officer in a violent crime investigation.

Genesee County Prosecutor David Leyton stated: “In this incident, it appears from what we know from the investigation that these two parents acted with almost no concern for their children’s safety when it came to firearms in the home and, as a result, they will be held accountable for their actions under the law.”

The whole thing just makes me sick and could have been easily avoided by simply storing their guns in a locked safe. It's sad that this little girl lost her finger but it truly could have been a whole lot worse.
