The Michigan Department of Transportation was planning to make the intersection of M-57 and Irish Road in Forest Township a four-way stop later this year but that plan could be changing.

According to ABC, side impact crashes are pretty common at the intersection which was the reason for the original plan of a four-way stop. MDOT is planning a community open house this month to try and put together a plan that would ensure the safety of drivers crossing the intersection. One plan could be the installation of a roundabout along with other safety measures.

The public meeting is planned for 4 to 6 p.m. June 14 at the Forest Township Hall at 130 E. Main St. in Otisville.

Some people really hate the idea of roundabouts which I don't understand. They're really the safest option for fixing a busy intersection.
