It is unfortunate, but not a surprise when we read about a store(s) closing, I guess you could call it a sign of the times. What really sucks, is seeing people lose their jobs.

Company owned Art Van Furniture stores will be closing, according to ABC 12, Art Van Furniture, PureSleep and Scott Shuptrine Interiors are affected. Art Van issued the following statement,

'On behalf of the company we want to offer our sincere appreciation to our employees for their dedication, commitment and hard work," she said. "We also want to extend our gratitude to the many customers, vendors, franchisees, charities and communities who have supported these retailers.'

I remember buying my first couch from an Art Van Furniture. I had just moved out on my own, and was super stoked to be buying my own furniture. If that couch could talk, trust me - it would have some pretty wild stories. I donated it a long time ago, I probably should have looked under the cushions first.

Liquidation starts tomorrow if you are in the market, as of now - no exact closing date has been revealed. Are you losing a job due to these closures? If so, feel free to share your thoughts. If that is indeed the case, I wish you the best of luck on finding a new job.
