I am not cultured in the world of art, but I have heard of performance artists. Performance art by definition is art featuring the artist and his or her works presented live.  Basically the artist is doing something.

Sounds interesting enough, however this is not a performance I would want to see.  A New York city artist gave birth to a baby boy as part of her live exhibit at a Brooklyn gallery.  I guess you could almost call it an "art opening" due to the womans legs.  Gross.

The Los Angeles Times reports that artist/mom Marni Kotak and her baby son are doing just fine.  About 20 people were present at the birth exhibit.  Did they have to bring presents? It is a birthday party after all.  In regards to the birth show, the new mom had this to say, quote:

"The overall message that we will communicate to the child is that he or she was born in an art gallery because, as artists, that is our sacred space, and in doing this we are telling the world and our child that his or her life is a precious work of art".

What happened to seeing a picture of a new little baby?  I know parents are proud, but that proud?  Having people watch?  Oh, speaking of watching - you should know that this mommy artist also lost her virginity during a performance art piece. What do you think?  Would you watch an exhibit like this?
