Avenged Sevenfold Fire Portnoy – WTF!

Avenged Sevenfold have decided to part ways with Mike Portnoy formerly of Dream Theatre. Now I don't know the whole story but it's a big surprise to me. Portnoy is one of the greatest drummers ever! (see video).

“Sadly my time with Avenged Sevenfold has come to an end. The band has decided to carry on into 2011 without me.

“I had a great time with them throughout 2010. But it was their choice to end the relationship at the end of the year, as was always the initial plan.”

In the past Portnoy talked about joining the band full time but that idea has now come to an end. The crazy part is, this was one of the reasons he left Dream Theatre.

“I had an awesome time on stage with the guys every night and have so many cool memories.“I adore the fans and appreciate the way they welcomed me aboard. I am proud to be part of the Avenged Sevenfold family and history.”
