The pandemic has changed how we do things. For the time being, food from your favorite restaurant is delivered or picked up and brought home. And apparently, bank robberies are now conducted at the drive-thru window.

Authorities in Bay City are investigating a robbery at the Fifth Third Bank branch located on State Street Road in Bangor Township.

We can't believe it worked ...

Wouldn't you expect the teller inside the building to just ignore the bank robber's request and tell him to go away? That's not what happened.

According to M-Live, the suspect passed a note to the teller through the pneumatic tube. (We're wondering if he left the pen in the tube for the next customer?)

Bay County Sheriff Troy R. Cunningham tells M-Live the teller obliged the request and "surrendered an undisclosed amount of cash" to the robber.

Clearly, many of the details of this incident have not been disclosed. We are unsure as to whether or not the suspect had a gun and the contents of the note that was passed to the teller are unknown at this time. But was complying with his request really the best course of action in this situation?

Deputies in Bay County are now working to obtain security surveillance video that may identify the suspect or his vehicle.
