Discover Michigan’s Unique Beatles-Themed Beer Garden

How did I not know Michigan is home to a Beatles-themed restaurant and beer garden?

I was today years old when I discovered Octopus' Beer Garden in Mount Clemens. The spot was first known as The Captain's Landing and was renamed in 2019.

The unique bar and restaurant is located along the Clinton River and is known for its food, drinks, peace, and love.

Octopus' Beer Garden is a seasonal spot and was previously open for business from May through October. However, the one-of-a-kind bar will now be open from March through December thanks to recent renovations.

You can be one of the first people to get a jump on the fun at Octopus' Beer Garden on Thursday, March 20th, 2025.

What is the significance of the Beatles?

Owner Bob Halaas is a big fan of the band. He and his family have been in the restaurant business for years, and all of their restaurants were named after The Beatles. Halas touched on this in with Click On Detroit in 2022,

Strawberry Fields was our first Beatles-themed restaurant, and when we decided it was time to move on from that, we weren’t sure what the new restaurant’s name was going to be. My wife came up with Penne Lane, the flip side of Strawberry Fields.

 

When this place became available, we were tossing names back and forth and it was actually a friend of my daughter’s who threw Octopus’ Beer Garden out there, and it was ‘Ahhhh!’ and here we are.

According to the Detroit Metro Times, live entertainment is one of the many perks of this groovy spot on the water. Be sure to follow the Octopus' Beer Garden Facebook page, for upcoming events, including Oberon Day with Bell's Brewery on March, 27th, 2025.

The menu at Octopus' has something for everyone. Guests can enjoy burgers, appetizers, fish tacos, salads, sandwiches, chicken wings, egg rolls, and more. You can view the full menu with photos here.

Octopus Beer Garden is at 152 North River Road in Mount Clemens, 48043. From the Flint and Lapeer areas, plan on a one-hour drive.

Spring hours are Thursday, 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Friday and Saturday, noon to midnight, and Sunday, noon to 10:00 PM.
