‘Bed Bug Cities’ Ranking Puts Flint High on the List
According to a new ranking released this week, Flint and several other Michigan cities have a bed bug problem.
This year, Flint comes in at #21 on the list, up from 28th in the country last year. Detroit and Grand Rapids both land in the top 10, at #4 and #10 respectively. Lansing also makes the annual ranking of the top 50 cities with bed bug infestations, landing at #48 this year.

The annual list is compiled by Orkin, ranking metro areas where the pest-control company performs the most bed bug treatments from the previous year.
Chicago tops the list this year, followed by Baltimore and Washington D.C. in second and third place. Cities that are popular hubs for tourism and ones that have expansive public transportation systems are considered safe-havens for bed bugs, according to Cision.

In 2019, Carman Ainsworth High School and Mott Community College acknowledged a bed bug infestation on their campuses.
