Beer-lovers, better stock up now. Anheuser-Busch, maker of beloved suds like Budweiser and Bud Light, has announced a price hike that’ll take effect in the weeks to come.

Summer is when beer sales are highest, so you’d think that whole supply-and-demand thing would leave you shelling out more when you buy brew for backyard barbecues. But the beer industry doesn’t seem to have much regard for economic theories — so for the past couple years, prices have gone up in the fall instead.

College students and football fans certainly drink their fair share, but overall, there’s a lull in sales between August and March (when St. Patrick’s revelers can be found puking up green beer behind bars all over the world). So what gives?

Experts say hiking the prices during the summer might be too obvious, so companies like Anheuser-Busch do their annual increases of between 3 and 5 percent when people are least likely to buy beer, meaning fewer of them will notice.

No word yet on exactly how much prices will go up, but Florida distributors were told to expect “pretty sizable” hikes. Beer Business Daily estimated bumps of 55 cents per case for Budweiser family products, and $.65 to $.75 cents for trendy products like Bud Light Platinum and Bud Light Lime.

“OH NO! NOT BUD LIGHT LIME!” screamed no one.
