Michigan is home to countless hidden gem restaurants, small, unassuming 'hole-in-the-wall' spots that surprise you with incredible food and character. But out of all these under-the-radar spots, which one truly stands out as the best?

While everyone has their favorites, the popular food website Love Food believes they have identified the best spot in all of Michigan.

Chances are, you will be surprised.

I mention it because, interestingly enough, Love Food chose a non-bar restaurant as Michigan’s top hole-in-the-wall.

When I think of a hole-in-the-wall restaurant, I immediately think of beer and burgers. Am I wrong?

What is the best hole-in-the-wall restaurant in Michigan?

According to Love Food, the best hole-in-the-wall restaurant in the Great Lakes State is Mr. Kabob.

You might expect to find food this good in a treasured neighborhood restaurant. But in a filling station off the highway? Perhaps not. Mr. Kabob's original location opened in a Berkley gas station in 2003, and it proved so popular that there are now four other locations, including one in downtown Detroit. Each one serves up flavorful food like zingy fattoush salad, delicious pita wraps, and beautifully marinated meats.

You had me at fattoush salad and pita wraps.

Have you ever been to Mr. Kabob? If you have, what did you think? If you haven’t, this might be the perfect reason to go. Locations are as follows,

  • Berkley
  • Livonia
  • Detroit
  • Southfield

You can get the exact address locations here.

Congrats to Mr. Kabob for making the list of best hole-in-the-wall restaurants in America.

Now, let's get to work on a list of the best hole-in-the-wall bars.
