Two Michigan cities have made the list of the 100 best places to live in the United States in 2025.

Most Michiganders would disagree, not because the two cities that made the list aren’t worthy, but because Michigan is full of incredible cities.

In my opinion, the Great Lakes State offers something for everyone. If you’re looking for small-town life, consider Caseville or Linden.

If a unique city is more your style, consider Frankenmuth, Traverse City, or Leland—also known as Fishtown. And for those seeking non-stop entertainment and excitement, say hello to Detroit.

I could go on, but I think you get the point; we really do have it all in Michigan.

That being said, which two Michigan cities were lucky enough to be included on the Livability list of 100 Best Places to Live in the United States in 2025?

Troy and Ann Arbor made the list.

If you are wondering how this list was determined by Livability, the following criteria were looked at,

  • The cities on this list are mid-sized cities, with population counts from 75,000 to 500,000.
  • Affordability (home prices, rent, income)

That’s just a sample of what was covered; for a more detailed look at the process, click here.

The science behind this particular list isn’t of much interest to me. I’m more focused on what makes Troy and Ann Arbor so great, from attractions and restaurants to events and beyond.

As for Ann Arbor, think University of Michigan, the Michigan Wolverines football team, parks, lakes, outdoor recreation, and an excellent food scene.

Troy is known for its great schools, museums, and, like Ann Arbor, has a wide range of dining options and outdoor areas to enjoy.

It’s clear that Ann Arbor and Troy are well-deserving, and as I mentioned earlier, many other Michigan cities are equally deserving

Maybe I should create a list of the 100 best places to live in Michigan, period.
