Having a gun usually increases your chances of walking out of the woods alive but that didn't seem to be the case for a Hunter that was recently killed by a deer he'd just shot.

66-year-old Thomas Alexander shot a buck with a muzzleloader while hunting near Yellville, Arkansas. According to ABC12, Alexander went to check on the deer to make sure it was dead and that's when it attacked him. Apparently, it got back up and punctured the man's body several times.

He was by himself while hunting so it's not entirely clear as to what exactly happened. It's also not clear if died from the puncture wounds or something else, like a heart attack. Hell, there's a good chance it was a combo of both.

Prior to his death, he was able to call a family member who called 911. He was later declared dead at the hospital.

I would have to imagine that this is an extremely rare case.
