What a weekend for Michigan football fans. Not only did the Wolverines win on Saturday, but the Detroit Lions also beat the Minnesota Vikings at Ford Field yesterday. This was the Detroit's first win of the season.

On Saturday, the Michigan Wolverines honored Oxford High School shooting victim Tate Myre, with a patch on their uniforms that featured Tate's football number 42, along with 4 hearts to honor Tate, Madisyn Baldwin, Justin Shilling, and Hana St. Juliana.

If you are just reading and or hearing about this for the first time, let this sink in - Michigan beat Iowa 42 to 3. What are the odds of that score being Tate's football number? Coincidence, I think not.

As for the Detroit Lions, prior to kickoff yesterday the team showed their support for Oxford by wearing Oxford High School t-shirts during their warm-up and also honored the Oxford shooting victims with a picture display and a moment of silence. According to Click On Detroit, the winning game ball will be given to the Oxford Football team.

The tributes continued after the game as you will see in the video below. During a press conference, Detroit Lions Head Coach Dan Campbell spoke in further detail about the tragedy as did Detroit Lions Quarterback Jared Goff and Linebacker Derrick Barnes.

I think it is poignant that Coach Campbell spoke about friends and family members of the victims, as well as to teachers, and everyone affected by this horrific tragedy.

The Michigan Wolverines and the Detroit Lions are both class act teams in my book.
