Someone decided this statue was missing one thing...a bloody hatchet in the head.

The statue, which is on the corner of Jefferson and Randolph in Detroit, has been there since 1910, according to WXYZ.  The vandalization occurred on Columbus Day (Monday October, 10th) city workers have since been working to remove the red paint. Regardless of how people feel about the famous explorer, this is still a crime and police are looking through surveillance footage to try to find a suspect.
