Dolly Parton Has Big Heart – Donates Thousands Of Books To Flint Youth
When it comes to giving back, Dolly Parton is one generous woman. According to MLive, Dolly's 'Imagination Library' has mailed over 200,000 books to Flint kids.
The Imagination Library is a book gifting program that mails free books to children from newborn to age five, no matter their family income. If you are a Flint resident within the zip codes of 48501-07 and 48532, you can register your child here. If you do not live within the zip codes I mentioned, you can check availability for your area here.
The Dolly Parton Imagination Library was started in Tennessee in 1995. Fast forward to 2021 - the program is now world wide. Last year Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library gifted its 150 millionth book.
If this project gets you in the feels, you can donate to the cause if you feel so inclined. For $25 dollars, you can provide an Imagination Library book to a child each month for one year. You can learn more here.
You may or may not know that Dolly grew up very poor. This is just one of the many projects she is involved in that give back to people all over the world. Dolly was in the news most recently when she received the first dose of the Moderna coronavirus vaccine. This was national news because Dolly donated one million dollars to Moderna for vaccine research last year.
Shout out to Dolly for her continued generosity. The impact she is making on children in Flint is very much appreciated.
