Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder discussed the “magic” he believes will be experienced via upcoming album Gigaton.

He was speaking at a listening party for invited guests in Los Angeles on Friday (Jan. 24) before unveiling the 11-track LP, set for release on Mar. 27.

“Theres’s a mystery to the creative process,” Vedder told the audience, as reported by Billboard. “Sometimes there’s an element that lands on it. You can pray, you can meditate – but sometimes it happens and sometimes it doesn’t. To say there was some magic involved with this would be more self-confidence than I’ve ever had… but I think you’re going to hear it.”

He explained that the album was presented in Dolby Atmos because the system “helps us share with you how we hear it in our minds.” After the playback he added: “Even I was a little moved at the end. That’s a good sign.”

Billboard reported that Gigaton “flows from a trio of hard-driving openers through to a potent symphonic closer, with doses of Pink Floyd-esque psychedelia, ‘Kashmir’-like guitar throttle and postpunk ethos.” The lyrics were said to cover “the importance of self-reflection and the urgency of action in these heady times.”

Last week, guitarist Stone Gossard praised the lyrics Vedder had brought to the LP, saying: “I think that his mysticism and his way of using words and art and music is a powerful sort of tonic. I think that underlying it all is going to continue to be a hopeful and beautiful, but at times tragic message.”
