When Will Michigan Finally See Real Fall Weather?

Even though the leaves are slowly starting to change colors for fall, the warm summer temps are still hanging on. This is a great problem to have unless you’re someone anticipating Michigan’s annual sweater weather.

I know we're kind of getting ahead of ourselves here—I mean, technically, it’s not even fall yet. The first official day of fall isn’t until September 22, just about a week and a half away. However, it’s still unseasonably warm for this time of year. How long is this warm streak going to last? I think it’s safe to say we’ll stay in the 70s and 80s for the rest of the month, and we won’t see a significant change in the weather until October.

According to reports, there’s a good chance that those fall feelings we get every year will be short-lived this season. It’s likely that we’ll go from summer to winter without much of a fall transition.

Personally, I wish we could go from fall to spring and leave winter out of it completely. But this is where I choose to live, so winter is inevitable in Michigan—unless we experience another winter like we did last year. It was unusually mild, with less snow and more manageable temperatures. Here’s hoping for a repeat of that, though it’s hard to predict what Mother Nature has in store for us.
