The Flint Firebirds season may be over, but the team is still making moves for what should be a very entertaining and successful upcoming year.

Flint had the second overall pick in this year's OHL draft and selected high-scoring Brennan Othmann out of the Greater Toronto Minor Midget Hockey League. The 15-year-old forward had 66 goals and 80 assists in 72 games last season. Those are impressive numbers at any level of play. Almost a goal per game average. Wow.

Being a high draft pick in any sport can bring a lot of pressure with it. More so in the OHL. Since 1999 the second pick in the OHL draft has gone onto play in the NHL the last 15 years. Othmann, who joined last year's second overall pick Evan Vierling, will be looking to light the lamps for the Firebirds next season.

I am already looking forward to checking out some of the games next year and especially the Flint Firebirds coaches show. The future is looking good for the Firebirds.
