Gun violence in the city of Flint is extremely out of control right now and something really needs to be done. Well, one thing that Mayor Sheldon Neeley is going to try to do to curb the situation is to close city parks by 9 pm or when the sun goes down. While this won't stop the gun violence, at least it might help a little.

Mayor Neeley made the announcement on Monday after a few more people were killed in a couple of recent overnight shootings. This announcement comes after the recent state of emergency called due to gun violence in the city.

Like I said, this move might help a little but I can't imagine that it will do all that much since most of the violence is taking place long after the parks are already closed anyway.

According to MLive, Police Chief Terence Green said police are concerned about violent crime occurring in any place where large groups of people gather which is usually in parks.

This is how crazy it's been in Flint this year, so far there have been 42 homicides. Yes, 42 people were murdered in 2021. That is up 30% from this time last year. What in the hell is going on?

Mayor Neeley:

This is a situation that we all have to take very seriously. You’ve heard people say it takes a village to raise a child, but it takes a village to save a village. It’s going to take all of us.
