It's hard to believe the Capitol Theater in downtown isn't open already and booming with business. I mean, we've been hearing for years that it's been under construction and will be opening soon. Then we hear, well it's gonna take millions more to finish up.

For the first time in a long time, I actually believe it's going to happen this time and that's because Uptown Reinvestment Corporation and the Whiting have officially acquired the 90 year-old building.

It looks like it's going to be a 14 to 16 month construction time frame, which will lead to a soft open.

According to ABC12, the theater, which will have seating for about 1,600 and while the theater will still have that classic look, all new lighting and audio systems will be installed.

I'm really excited to see this finally happen, let's just hope we don't get let down again.
