Flushing Summerfest Kicks Off This Week
Downtown Flushing is about to be one big party!
Flushing Fest 2021 is set to kick-off Wednesday, June 9th. Hosted by the Flushing Chamber of Commerce, the annual festival is back bigger than ever after being postponed, and then finally cancelled, last year due to COVID-19.
Things get going starting at 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 9, with the parade which will start at Central Elementary School, located at 525 Coutant Street. Then activities will continue each day, and night, through Sunday in Flushing Riverview Park.
This years activities, which are free to all, include live music,balloon and clown show Empty Canvas painting interaction, a safety clinic, a book giveaway and so much more. Of course there will be the excited carnival rides, presented by the Skerbeck Family Carnival. You will need tickets or an armband for the rides. Cherry Street will feature the Marketplace vendors.
There is a special Kids Day planned for Thursday, June 10th that will take place from 1pm -3pm and feature special events such as Touch a Truck. kids games, and a Princess Meet & Greet. Summerfest also has some great music planned for Friday night with 1 Fifty taking the stage at 6 p.m.and Fleaflicker performing at 8 p.m.
Summerfest will wrap up on Sunday, June 13 with the EAA 77 Annual Pancake Breakfast at Dalton Airport. Adults are $8 and Kids 5-12 just $4.
