Ford has announced that it will be building a new truck plant in Dearborn.

Ford Motor Company is currently working on a new building in Dearborn that will provide 300 jobs to Michigan. The new plant will assemble batteries and produce an electric version of the F-150 truck. The Ford Rouge complex will be the home to the new Rouge Electric Vehicle Center, where they have already begun producing a newer F-150. The new version of the truck will start to hit showrooms in November of this year.

We are proud today to announce for our Ford UAW members and our nation that Ford is building this new plant to assemble the truck of the future -- a battery-electric Ford F-150...Where once the Mustang changed America, UAW members will now build the truck that will change America -- Built Ford Tough by UAW members...says United Auto Workers (UAW) Ford Vice President Gerald Kariem.

For those wanting to get their hands on a new electric Ford F-150, you will have to wait until mid-2022 for your chance to do so. Ford is investing $700 million into the Rogue Complex to build the all-electric F-150. Not only will Ford be investing in this new plant, but they also plan on investing over $1.45 billion to create around 3,000 new jobs in Michigan alone in the next three years. The Ford F-Series trucks also generate more revenue than other major companies including McDonalds, Nike, Coca-Cola, Visa, and Netflix.

Ford also unveiled its "Built for America" campaign this week. Check out all the details here.
