Foxy Shazam have been known for keeping fans on their toes with their musical direction, but the Cincinnati rock outfit likely surprised some with their latest decision. After a decade of rocking fans, the band has announced plans to take a hiatus.

As stated in their posting, the relentless schedule of touring and recording has taken its toll and they feel the need for a break to reconnect with family and to pursue outside opportunities. However, it should be noted that the statement does say that they expect to return at some point and that "our best art is yet to come."

Check out the statement in full below:

After more than ten years of our lives completely revolving around Foxy Shazam, it is time to disband for an unknown amount of time. Performing more than two thousand shows together around the world has been life changing, but also has kept us from spending time with our families and pursuing our own passions and ways to grow individually as artists.

It has been an honor sharing ourselves and our music with all of you. Thank you to all of our fans, family and friends that have supported us through everything to make this previous decade the best time of our lives.

We truly believe there is a future for Foxy Shazam, that our best art is yet to come. We don't know how long this will take but we plan on someday returning more powerful than ever.

Foxy Shazam formed in 2004 and self-released their first album, 'The Flamingo Trigger,' a year later. Albums like 'Introducing Foxy Shazam', 'Foxy Shazam' and 'The Church of Rock and Roll' followed, giving the group plenty of buzz not only for their recorded music, but their live show as well. Earlier this year, the group took another creative turn, by recording the more stripped back 'Gonzo' album and releasing it to fans as a free download.
