If you’re planning to celebrate this Thanksgiving weekend in Michigan, and that includes a few cocktails, AAA has your back if things get a little too out of control.

AAA is bringing back its Tow to Go program, giving free rides home to drivers who know they should not be behind the wheel. It is pretty simple. Get them home safe before something stupid happens.

We’ve all been there. You go out planning on one or two, but then the night gets rolling, and next thing you know, you’re way past that. Instead of making a really stupid decision and driving home, just call AAA.

How the AAA Free Tow Home Program Works

The Tow to Go program runs from 6 p.m. Wednesday through 6 a.m. Monday, and it is open to anyone. You don't have to be a AAA member. If you find yourself in that not-so-great decision-making zone, just call 1-855-286-9246 and request a tow. A truck will come pick you and your vehicle up and get you home free of charge within a 10-mile radius.

AAA says this should be treated as a backup plan, not something you schedule ahead of time. In other words, don’t take advantage of it. This is more of a hey, I screwed up, and I don't want to make it worse type of situation.

So yeah, if the cocktails, or whatever else, hits a little too hard this weekend, just know there is a safer option than risking it.
