Another Store Closure At Genesee Valley Center In Flint Township

Another store closure is happening at Genesee Valley Center in Flint Township.

I received word yesterday, Thursday, September 25th, 2025, that City Man was packing up. This really does not come as much of a surprise, as City Man opened a location across the street from Genesee Valley Center this past summer at 3292 Linden Road.

If my count is accurate, and please feel free to correct me if it is not, that means there are still 19 stores currently operating at Genesee Valley Center.

The future of Genesee Valley Center has been making headlines lately. According to WNEM TV-5, Genesee County Commissioners have emphasized that economic and community development remain top priorities, and the Genesee Valley Center is considered an important part of that effort.

Commissioner Dale Weighill is right. People are no longer going to the mall, and they have not been for a while. Depending on your age, you may or may not remember that there was a time when Genesee Valley Center was full of life, with crowds of shoppers, families, and teenagers hanging out on weekends.

I was definitely one of those teens back in the day. You want to hear something else crazy? There was a time when people could and would actually smoke inside the mall.

Can you even imagine?

I still go to Genesee Valley Center to shop at Claire's for accessories for the annual Ironsnake prom at The Machine Shop. It would be great to see it brought back to life.
