Governor Whitmer Apologizes After Violating Michigan Pandemic Order
People love to see other people screw up, scratch that - a lot of people love the fact that Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer screwed up and violated one of her own state mandates of the weekend.
Here's the slow and skinny. Yesterday, a photo of Governor Whitmer emerged that was taken at a Michigan restaurant on Saturday, May 22nd (see below). What has people so fired up is the fact that in the picture Governor Whitmer is sitting with ten people at the table. Currently in the state of Michigan guidelines restrict more than six people at one table in a restaruant, and patrons must be six feet apart.
I get it, she is violating the order - but holy smokes by some of the comments I have read on social media platforms and on line, people are ready to burn her at the stake. This may come as a complete shock to you but Governor Whitmer is not the only one breaking this rule. I have seen the same situation at 3 out of 5 restaurants I have frequented.
Nonetheless, it was a violation of her own order and Governor Whitmer released the following public apology,
'Throughout the pandemic, I’ve been committed to following public health protocols. Yesterday, I went with friends to a local restaurant. As more people arrived, the tables were pushed together. Because we were all vaccinated, we didn't stop to think about it.
In retrospect, I should have thought about it. I am human. I made a mistake, and I apologize.'
According to The Detroit News, the photo was taken at Landshark Bar & Grill in East Lansing and was posted by a friend of Governor Gretchen Whitmer (or should I say ex friend?).
