Here’s a great opportunity for the family to get out and get some exercise. McLaren Flint and the Czmer family are presenting the 27th annual Healing Hands 5K run/walk to benefit the Genesee County Free Medical Clinic on May 21.

What Are the Details?

The event will be held at the Mott Community College Events Center, located 1401 E. Court Street. Runners, Walkers, and spectators can gather beginning at 8:30 am with a start time of 9:00 am for the race and 9:01 am for the walk.

Afterward, refreshments will be served and there is an awards ceremony. There are awards for overall time, male, and female masters, and the top three finishers in each group will be recognized.

This year’s master of ceremonies will be Rod Matta of ‘Her and I Productions.’

Healing Hands Walk/Run Provides Much-Needed Revenue

The Genesee County Free Medical Clinic does not receive any federal funding, relying exclusively on volunteer and financial support from hospitals, local businesses, individuals, and fundraisers such as the Healing Hands Run/Walk.

Stacey Doyle is the Executive Director of the clinic. She says the Healing Hands event brings in approximately one-third of clinic’s operating income.

“The clinic provides free primary medical care to patients who are not insured or underserved in Genesee County,” Doyle says. “By providing primary care to our patients, we empower them to be proactive about their health and it helps keep our local emergency rooms focused on their purpose.”
