Clay Township Helicopter Crash Ends in Lucky Escape for All Onboard
A helicopter crashed yesterday in Clay Township, Michigan.
The accident happened just outside Cabana Blue Lakefront Sports Bar and Grill, a popular restaurant located on Lake St. Clair.
I was surprised to see a few of my friends posting about it on Facebook—they happened to be out on the water and witnessed it firsthand.
The helicopter crashed in an empty parking lot near the restaurant.
According to The Detroit News, there were four passengers on board, and all suffered minor injuries. CBS News Detroit is reporting that the helicopter is privately owned, and all on board are from Canada.
Because the aircraft is registered in Canada, the Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board will not be involved in the investigation.
It is pretty incredible that everyone walked away without major injuries, and even luckier that no one was in the spot where it happened.
It’s hard to imagine what the passengers were feeling in that moment, not to mention those who witnessed it from the restaurant or the water.
We will continue to share updates as more information becomes available. Thankfully, all of the passengers are okay, considering the circumstances.
