On Monday I took a trip down to Detroit to see Foo Fighters and enjoy a couple days off. On the way home yesterday, we got stuck in a traffic jam on 75 for a couple of hours. While we sat there, we began to assess our ability to survive the apocalypse.

After a great evening and a killer show Monday night, it was time to head back to reality. We left the casino where we stayed for the night right around noon to drive home. While driving through an already slow construction zone on I-75, I saw a super bright flash about 150 yards ahead of our car. As I tried to figure out what was going on, I saw the power lines above the highway shake for a second before they completely fell across the entire highway. It was then that I realized that a construction worker raised the boom on his rig too high and hit the power lines. I immediately knew we were screwed. Both northbound and southbound traffic came to a stop.

At this point, we began to inventory everything we had to see whether or not we were going to survive this event. Having come from an overnight trip, we already had extra clothing, toiletries, and a few other everyday things to get by with. Unfortunately, this is when we realized we would have to get crafty in our survival situation to get by. After a quick look through the car, you can see some of our supplies below.

Based on my extensive knowledge of 'The Walking Dead,' I feel we would have been able to survive for at least two days before we would have had to start attacking other people. However, given our unique skill set, I have no doubts that we would have been able to survive well into at least season five... maybe season six if there was a dumpster nearby. So next time you are stuck in traffic take a few minutes to inventory what you have, it is a great way to pass time. And if there ever is a zombie apocalypse, stick with us and you'll survive.
