Alright…this is actually pretty cool.

After nearly 20 years of Michigan having just one IKEA location, that’s finally changing. A new IKEA pop-up is opening at Great Lakes Crossing Outlets. Did you catch that I said pop-up?

IKEA Opening New Michigan Location in Auburn Hills

Now, before you think this is another full-blown IKEA store…it’s not. This one’s a little different. So don’t start making plans for the meatballs just yet.

According to Fox 2 Detroit, the Auburn Hills location is more of a planning studio mixed with a pickup spot. You’ll be able to go in, sit down with staff, and actually map out your space…kitchens, storage, furniture layouts, all of it. Basically, if you’ve ever walked through IKEA and thought, “this looks awesome, but I have no idea how to make it work at home,” this is built for that kind of stuff.

What Will the New IKEA Pop-Up Store in Auburn Hills Offer?

They’ll also have around 500 items you can grab in-store, plus you can pick up online orders there, which is huge. No more long drives to Canton just to grab one thing. Trust me, I’ve done that more times than I’d like to admit.

The space itself is about 4,500 square feet, so yeah…way smaller than Canton, but that’s kind of the point. Quick in, get help, grab what you need, and go.

When Will the IKEA Auburn Hills Location Open?

No exact opening date yet, but they’re saying early summer.

Now I just have to figure out how to keep my wife from finding out about this.
