See what happens when you change the name back to Pine Knob? We're not saying it had anything to do with it, but Pine Knob has been just named the top amphitheater not only in the country but in the entire world.

Announced by 313 Presents, which books and promoted the lineup at Pine Knob along with other Detroit area venues, the music theater earned top honors in Pollstar’s 2022 Year-End Rankings. Pine Knob finished #1 in 2022 for "Top 100 Amphitheaters in the World" by reporting the venue had $36.9 million in overall gross ticket sales.

“It gives us immense pride to have Pine Knob Music Theatre recognized as the number one ranked amphitheater in the world,” said President of 313 Presents Howard Handler in a press release. “From the moment we announced the return of Pine Knob Music Theatre thanks to our proud partners United Wholesale Mortgage, Trinity Health, and Ally in January, concertgoers, and artists showed overwhelming enthusiasm for the return to our roots. In addition to our Proud Partners, it’s important to thank Live Nation for their partnership in providing the very best in diverse, world-class entertainment. This remarkable accomplishment capped off a memorable 50th anniversary season.”

It was like magic happened once it was announced that the iconic music theater would be changing its name from DTE Music Theatre back to the beloved Pine Knob Music Theatre name for its 50th year. Also, the fact it was the first "real" year back for concerts, and fans were anxious to see live music.

“This year marked our industry’s return to a full event schedule at our six venues since 2019, and it was great to see people gather and enjoy live entertainment once again,” added Handler. “To have three ranked in the top 15 in their respective categories, it shows Detroit truly is an entertainment mecca and we are extremely grateful for the continued patronage of our guests.”

Pine Knob wasn't the only Michigan venue to achieve a high ranking by Pollstar.  Little Caesars Arena (LCA) and the Fox Theatre, also part of the 313 family, earned honors being ranked among the top 15 venues in the United States and the top 16 in the world.

The 2023 season for Pine Knob is already shaping up to be another memorable one for concertgoers. Already announced, Bret Michaels, Anita Baker, Foreigner & Loverboy, Billy Strings, and Artic Monkeys have had dates announced.
