Driver Trapped After Vehicle Ends Up in Pond at Fenton Church

A routine Sunday morning at a Fenton church service quickly turned into an emergency after a vehicle somehow ended up in a pond with the driver trapped inside.

Emergency Response Requested at Genesee County Church Sunday Morning

According to emergency radio traffic shared by USCrimeRadar.com, the incident happened around 11:10 a.m. on Sunday, August 2, at Trinity Lutheran Church on Main Street in Fenton.

Initially, the Fenton Fire Department was dispatched for a water rescue after the Fenton Police Department had already arrived at the scene. As firefighters responded, dispatchers advised that a vehicle had gone into the church's pond near the front of the property.

Radio traffic indicated the vehicle was partially submerged, with water reaching about one-quarter of the way up the vehicle. Emergency responders were told a male driver was trapped inside and was reportedly semi-conscious.

A Med Star ambulance was also dispatched while firefighters worked to reach the driver.

Fenton Firefighters & Emergency Responders Broke Window to Reach the Victim

According to the emergency transmissions, crews broke out the vehicle's rear window in an effort to communicate with the driver and gain access.

By the end of the recorded radio traffic, rescuers reported the driver was being handed off to medical personnel once Med Star arrived on scene. However, upon their arrival, crews were still working to fully extricate him from the vehicle when the transmission ended.

Victim at Fenton Church: The Condition and Cause Remain Unknown

At this time, authorities have not released the identity of the driver, what caused the vehicle to enter the pond, or the extent of any injuries.
