Genesee Township Drive-By Shooting Leaves 21-Year-Old Dead

A late-night crash in Genesee Township turned into a deadly shooting investigation after police discovered two men had been shot inside the vehicle.

The Genesee Township Police Department says officers were dispatched around 11:49 p.m. Sunday, August 16, to North Dort Highway near Schaaf Drive for a report of a single-vehicle crash.

But this wasn't simply a crash according to MLive. Dispatchers also received reports that people were screaming at the scene. Witnesses told police they heard multiple gunshots immediately before the vehicle crashed.

When officers arrived, they located the vehicle near the intersection and found that both the driver and passenger had been shot. The driver was a 21-year-old man who died from his injuries. A 27-year-old man who was riding as a passenger was also shot and was taken for medical treatment. Police have not released his current condition.
